Bird clearance
How does falconry clearance work, what stops problem birds just coming back?
Falconry clearance works by making use of the natural predator-prey relationship between birds of prey and pest birds. To begin with, some birds will persist, but the group will get smaller and smaller as the visits go on and the birds realise that the threat of the hawk is a regular occurrence. We work alongside sites to prevent access to food sources and nesting sites, and utilising other methods alongside hawking if necessary to ensure we always achieve our desired result.
Do your birds of prey ever catch the birds that are being cleared?
It is never our aim to catch the birds that we are clearing, and we always give pest birds a clear exit from our hawks while flying. However, very rarely our hawk may catch a prey bird.
Outside of work, we spend a great deal of our time giving all of our birds the opportunity to fly and hunt their own food - we believe this is hugely important for our hawk's mental well-being and physical health.
What area do you cover?
We work primarily across the of the South of England from our base in Kent, but can provide hawking services throughout the UK.
